

Keith was preceded in death by his father, William, his mother, Marvel, and his two brothers, Bob and Dean, sister-in-law Peggy and nephews Walter and “Little Keith”. Those left to cherish his memory include two sons, Chris and Brad (Holly), and two step children, Tracey (Chris) and Troy (Becca) ten grandchildren, Brittany and Zach, Jacob, Cole and Elise, Jack and Grace, Seth, Nathan and Aaron, and one great grandson, Huxley. Keith and Pam celebrated 24 special years together on their wedding anniversary in February.Īfter a valiant fight, on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, Keith passed away at the age of 76. After several months of treatment and time recovering, he was able to play golf, spend time with friends, and enjoy a trip to the mountains and the holidays with family. In February of 2014, Keith was diagnosed with lung cancer. Keith remained an avid sports fan, and he and Pam had great fun together at numerous Broncos, Nuggets and Rockies’ games. They also enjoyed yearly trips to Mexico, including several with family. For many years, Keith and Pam shared their love of the mountains with their children and grandchildren at their cabin in Grand Lake.
Throughout their marriage, Keith and Pam remained devoted to his mom and Pam’s parents, Mabel and Leo, until their passing. Keith married Pam in 1991, and they shared the blessing of a blended family that included his two sons along with her two children, Tracey and Troy.

He was inducted into the RMAC Hall of Fame in 2008 and holds the distinction of working in the conference in five different decades. He worked as a basketball official and then as the Supervisor of the RMAC men and women’s basketball officials. The Ancell family had great times at Grandma Marvel’s house with aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and neighbors.ĭuring this same time, Keith continued his military service as a Major in the Marine Reserves and began his association with the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). After the passing of his father “Bill”, Keith became even closer to his mom. Upon returning stateside, he began his career as a commercial insurance agent and established their family home in Northglenn. The new family relocated to Germany where Keith was stationed and proudly served his country as an Army Captain with the NATO forces. Keith married Elizabeth (Betty) and their first son, Chris, was born in 1962.

He gained recognition as a star basketball player, joined the ROTC, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree.Īfter college, Keith began his military career at Ft. Although he had many offers to play college ball around the country, he chose to stay close to home so his parents could watch him play. He graduated from North High School where he made lifelong friendships and earned a basketball scholarship to University of Utah. Keith’s family later moved to north Denver where he attended Skinner Junior High. He and his two older brothers, Bob and Dean, spent their youth in various small Colorado mountain towns where their father worked on the railroad. Keith Ancell was born to William and Marvel Ancell on Octoin Burlington, Colorado. Recipients of the award have shown a passion, dedication and steadfast allegiance to women’s basketball and officiating during the course of their lifetime.
